Jimmy Choo: Stripper Shoes

It’s a well-established fact that stripping is a lucrative job. Some designers celebrate that fact by making shoes inspired by the towering lucite heels worn by exotic dancers the world over — but Jimmy Choo has taken it one step further. With his new line of crystal-studded shoes, he’s apparently decided to just go ahead and make high-end stripper shoes, as evidenced by the pair featured above. Made, I imagine, for the highest-earning peelers in the country, these shoes are even named after a stripper: Niagra.

This is an untapped niche, and I think we’re going to see Choo really come into his own as he expands to the world of exotic dance.

How Much Money Can You Make As A Dancer

Everyone always want to know why we dance? Well I'd say it's for the fun of it, but that would be a lie. Dancing for disgusting, old men that are often fat and sometimes smelly is not my idea of fun. On an occasion you get the chance to dance for a hot, young guy but they generally are a**holes and don't have the cash we are really looking for so for the most part I'd say it's the first scenario. The old, fat guy who's eyeing you like a piece of meat, he's got the cash you want. 


So why do we do it.... FOR THE MONEY $$$


So how much can you make and how do you make the most of your time in the club. Well I found a very interesting article online I'd like to share with you about how much money you can make in the club. The article is kind of old though and I would like to add my own thoughts from my experience. 


I would say you should work 4 nights a week and make at a minimum of $500 every night you work. That's $8000 a month! I set my nightly goal at $1000 and I think it's really important to have a higher goal because then  you really know exactly what you want to achieve and you don't waste time sitting at the bar alone or standing around talking to other girls about how much your night sucks. That's actually the worst thing you can do to yourself is put those negative thoughts in your head.

I also like to keep a journal of what I make each night, each month and each year. I try to do some kind of comparison each year to what I am making and what was going on that week and month to know what to do in the future. It has worked quite well for me doing this, but as all of us dancers know, every night is different and all it takes is one guy to make the night for us. Some girls would say luck is a huge part of what we make, but I think it has more to do with scoping the crowd out and looking to see where the most potential lies for the night. In other words, who looks like they have the most money and also who looks like they will spend it. Also getting in good with the waitresses helps too. They usually know where the money is.

I get asked all the time, "How much money do strippers make?" Well, it varies from a good night to a bad night, but suppose a stripper only averages $200/shift and she works 4x a week. That is $800/week or $40k per year. If she works 5x a week that is $1000/week or $50k per year. When I first posted this article in the fall of 2007, most of the strippers I knew were averaging $500/shift, working 4 shifts a week, which translated to a 6 figure business.

Some strippers are still making that kind of money (the ones who have taken a stripper sales training course certainly are!) However most of the exotic dancer I know have taken a 20% or more hit to their profits due to the slowing economy.

I spent a good 2 hours researching the Bell Curve Statistics of Professional salaries. If you are not a statistician, let me explain. In this case the bell curve measures the distribution of salaries from the lowest 10th percentile, the middle 50th percentile, and the highest 90th percentile. The bell curve measures data more accurately than an average does. The average is a poor measurement of data because one very high or one very low number can completely skew your average. (Snooze, snooze....I was a math teacher remember???)

I included baseball players because it cracks me up how these Minor League guys waltz into the Strip Club during Spring Training. They love to tell the doorstaff that they should get in for free because they're baseball players, and they think the girls should give them free dances because they're baseball players. The new girls eat it up because they think they're sitting on the lap of the next Derek Jeter. Uh....nope....homeboy is only making $2500 a month!! Also notice that even though the newspapers report that the average baseball salary is 2 million, most of that money is going to the top players like Bonds, Jeter, Sosa, etc. The majority of the guys in the league are pulling $385K. Not too shabby...but a far cry from the "average" 2 million.

What I found most depressing was the salaries for higher education. Everyone knows public school teachers don't make much money...but university professors aren't far behind. Look at the salary range for University Deans! These are some of the brightest minds in the world...and they're not making much more than a stripper?

It drives home the fact that EDUCATION does not equal MONEY anymore. I wish I could change that equation but I can not. Going to school, getting an advanced degree does not guarantee you a safe job with a pension, as many college grads are now finding out.

I am not saying that stripping is the solution for every attractive woman. However, if you are considering becoming a stripper or want to make more money stripping, a sales training course can help.

Dangers of Dancing

I keep hearing of these crazy stories where customers are killing dancers.

First there's the story about the killing in Ft. Worth and then the one in Uptown. 

The girl in Uptown worked at The Lodge so it hits pretty close to home and it 

really makes you think twice and a third time, about dancing. I def will 

watch my back when I leave work late at night. 

Burleson man shoots and kills stripper, then himself

FORT WORTH — Dante Empie, 26, of Burleson, shot topless dancer Jene Stone, 21, of Cleburne, then killed himself Thursday afternoon at T&A Cabaret, an adult club in south Fort Worth.

Empie, who was a regular at the club, approached Stone in the main stage area, and shot her with a semiautomatic handgun. Empie began to leave the club, then shot himself in the head.

The club at 8701 South Freeway in far south Fort Worth appears to be a hotbed of trouble, as it was the scene of a fatal shooting in February, when a guy stormed into the club, dragged a woman into the bathroom, and brandished a BB gun.

Man fatally shot woman at Uptown Dallas apartment, fled to Georgia

Police believe a man fatally shot a 26-year-old woman at his Uptown Dallas apartment and fled to Georgia, where he admitted to the killing early Thursday morning. Dallas homicide detectives arrived in Georgia on Thursday afternoon with an arrest warrant for Michael Paul Lucking, 40, who was arrested by authorities there.

Detectives planned to talk to Lucking and seek evidence in the murder, which probably occurred late Wednesday morning, police said. Authorities in the DeKalb County area notified Dallas police after 2 a.m. Thursday about a possible murder at an apartment on Carlisle Street near Cedar Springs Road, police said.

Responding officers found the woman dead of a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. The victim’s name is being withheld because her family had not been located as of Thursday evening.

Police believe Lucking was living at the Dallas apartment where the woman was found. Records also link Lucking to an Atlanta address, where his wife also lives. A motive in the killing was unclear.

Rick's Cabaret NYC Law Suit

'Stripper Law Blog': Another Nonexistent Blog That Needs an Author

We've got blogs on Furniture Law, Mixed Martial Arts Law, Salmonella Law ... pretty much every niche you can think of. How can there not be a Stripper Law blog? Can someone please step up? If there was a Stripper Law blog, I'd already know everything I need to know about Hart v. Rick's Cabaret Int'l Inc., a newly-certified class action filed in the Southern District of New York.

The New York Law Journal reports that the plaintiffs -- as many as 1,700 exotic dancers in New York -- allege that Rick's Cabaret International failed to pay them the minimum wage going as far back as 2004. RCII argued that the dancers were independent contractors, not employees, but Judge John G. Koeltl of the Southern District rejected that argument. Judge Koeltl found that plaintiffs had adequately alleged that the club had almost complete control over the dancers' activities, "including what music they danced to and the pace and manner of their stripping."

The court observed that Rick's dancers are allegedly required to:

• cover all tattoos while on stage;
• pay "shift fees" before beginning work;
• wear heels of a certain height;
• refrain from gum chewing;
• schedule their shifts in advance and pay a fine if they do not come to work as scheduled.

The dancers also claimed that they are not allowed to select their own music, and are "told how much clothing to remove during each song, i.e., top only during the first song and then all clothing, save a G-string, during the second song."

* I have worked at this Rick's and I was contacted about joining in the lawsuit and I opted out because of obvious reasons. I didn't want to be caught in the middle of it or have my name involved. I do agree though with the suit. We are told we are "independent contractors" so the clubs don't have to pay us an hourly wages but yet we are expected to work under conditions similar to paid employees. Funny how that works, but really what dancer is going to go against the club where she makes thousands of dollars a week? Not me that's for sure....

Grace Undressed

I came across this excerpt online from a blog written by an "exotic dancer" named Grace, in Texas. It is a pretty great scenario for what happens in the back. Girls I don't know always come sit next to me while I'm getting dressed and just ramble on forever about all the problems in their life. It's kinda sad when you think about it because maybe they have no one else to talk to and they have to resort to talking to me, a complete stranger. Personally, I like to keep to myself. I decided along time ago after a wise word from my cousin, who also was a dancer, not to get close to the girls at work.  I would like to stay as far away from all their drama, after all I'm there to make money not friends, and if I come off as a "stuck up bitch" as many have called me in the past.... so be it. I'm drama free and making plenty of cash.

Rose was putting lotion on her face when she told me about the abortion. She was brief and matter-of-fact. Maybe I was supposed to ask more questions. The dressing room is not a tearful-hugs-sisterhood rah-rah-girlfriends kind of place. It's a zone of suspended emotion, mostly. It's where you go to get out of the whole chatty, google-eyed gushing sex kitten thing that you do out on the floor all the time. Even the girls on their cellphones breaking up with their boyfriends every day during shift change sound clinical and practiced. The only real raw emotion there is from girls who aren't making money, crouched by their lockers hissing curses into little piles of singles.

Rose and I sat in front of the mirror and put our powder on. It seemed quiet, although it never actually is, with the stage music piped back here and the DJ on the mic hawking five-dollar you-call-em shots. Some people would be saying things right now, because some people show how much they care by saying things. Some people would want to know if she was still with her boyfriend and what does he think and are you OK and where are you getting it done? And maybe those people would be better than me in situations like this. I tend to try to show how much I care by saying as little as possible.

I wish I could let her know just by the quality of the silence that if she needs anything from me it's hers. We're not best friends or anything. Sometimes we sell dances together. Men like to see us entertwined, her slim frame and and spectacular breasts, my pale skin and substantial hips. I love the warmth of her skin and the light gold freckles she's powdering over now so meticulously.

On the floor, she is silly and bewitching, daffy smile and clownish gestures set off against the essential elegance of her -- her classical face, that serious lode of smoky black hair. She seduces me again and again, like she seduces everyone. I love Rose. But of course, there is no Rose. I don't really know this girl next to me, the girl who's legal name is in my phone. If I knew her, I would say more."

Last Post Tonight: What's Your Fav Stripper Name?

I’m interested to hear from everybody about what stripper names they like best… mostly for curiosity’s sake. 

It's also been my experience that the guys could care less if you are using a fake name. They always ask if it's real or fake and then when you tell them they never believe you anyway so you could be going by your real name and they still wouldn't believe you. Men are funny like that. They could care less as long as the girl is taking her top off and pullin' her boobs out. They don't care who's name it is. 

But anyway do you prefer names that you know for sure aren’t real: Diamond, Candy, Jasmine, etc. because you feel they add to the fantasy?

Or do you like names that could actually be a girl’s name: Jessica, Kristi, Juliette, etc…?

And what's the funniest name you have ever heard or told someone?

How Safe are Stilettos?

Strippers work gruelling hours in the clubs and all perched on top of a pair of towering heels. Wearing high heels around 15 centimetres or higher has been compared to walking on stilts or dancing on ballet pointe shoes. Yowch!

Not only is the risk of falling flat on your rear a concern, there are also long term foot complications that can arise. Chiropractors and Podiatrists recommend that you stay in your stilettos for no more than 20 minutes at a time to avoid permanent damage. Trust me from experience, I have seen girls completely wipe out walking around the club, down the stairs, and on the stage. It can be embarrassing and painful. There is also no "worker's comp" so keep that in mind. 

The main areas that stilettos refer injuries and pain include the back, hips and knees, shins, balls of the feet and the toes. It is imperative to look after the health of your feet on a daily basis if you wear heels everyday. Soak them in a warm tub of water with Epsom salts and massage with moisturizer and a few drops of Peppermint oil afterwards.

Lower the height of your heels if possible and try to stay off your feet if you are doing a shift in the strip club. Holding onto a pole and stabilizing yourself by touching the ceiling can also relieve the pressure on your feet.  Additionally, do more chair work and take regular breaks in the dressing rooms to massage and liberate your footsies!

The BIG Misconception

It's been my experience that people think that "strippers" have nothing going on in their lives. That we are all on drugs, partying all the time, living with broke men, not taking care of our kids,  and being whores. This is def not the case for the girls that I know. Dancing is just a stepping stone to help get most girls to the next phase of their lives. The majority of the girls are in school or just finishing school and need the cash to pay their way through. Why would anyone want to struggle during those times of possibly having kids and being a single mom and trying to also go to school. Why work a job making $400 a week when you can get paid $400 an hour in a club??? People talk so much trash and what I think it comes down to is that they can't do it so they just "hate" on those who can. 

Haterz definition: 
People who think you are a moron. Using this term will do little to dissuade them.
